  2.  C H K D S K  COMMAND                                                         
  3.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 
  4.                                                                               
  5.  Purpose: Analyzes the directories, files, and the FAT table on the designat- 
  6.           ed or current drive, and produces a disk and memory status report.  
  7.                                                                               
  8.  Format:  [d:][path]CHKDSK [d:][path][filename[.ext]][/F][/V]                 
  9.                                                                               
  10.  Remarks: [d:][path] before CHDKSK to specify the drive and path that con-    
  11.           tains the CHKDSK command.                                           
  12.                                                                               
  13.           [d:][path][filename[.ext]] to specify a filename.  If you specify   
  14.           a filename, CHKDSK displays the number of noncontiguous areas occu- 
  15.           pied by the file or files. Leaving the filename blank will instruct 
  16.           CHKDSK to run a test on all files in the current directory.         
  17.                                                                               
  18.           /F to have CHKDSK fix errors that are found in the directory or FAT 
  19.           table.  The corrections are written on the disk.  If /F is not      
  20.           specified, CHKDSK will not write changes to disk, but simply report 
  21.           them on the screen.                                                 
  22.           /V to display all files and their paths on the current or specified 
  23.           drive.

  26.  Example: CHKDSK C:  would report the condition of the fixed disk.            
  27.                                                                               
  28.           CHKDSK A:/F  would check your A: drive diskette, and fix any errors,
  29.           if found, and produce a disk and memory status report.
